Day One in Kazakhstan!
We started out on 27APR from Minneapolis, changed planes in Chicago-O’Hare, and a 7-hour flight to Frankfurt. We had a 3-hour layover there, then switched from United to Lufthansa for a 7-hour flight to Almaty.
We arrived just after midnight, and spent over an hour processing through passport control. All our bags had properly arrived, and customs was a quick walk-thru the doors. Svetlana was there to meet us in a Hyundai sedan. 😁 We made do. The tool bin went into the trunk with all the smaller bags. Luggage we packed in to the back seat, then a quick trip to the B&B where we stayed the night. We got to bed at about 0230.
I woke at 0600, and could not remain in bed past 0700. I adjusted the luggage a bit, dressed for the day, and sit now charging my tablet and wrist watch for the 4-hour drive to Tashkarasu.
We expect our rides to arrive about 0930 or 1000, and we’ll be off to the village, and the week’s work waiting.
